LAUREN DARN

ABOUT LAUREN DARN
From the age of three, my very trusting parents would allow me to run around with both film and still photography cameras. At that age, I felt only simple joy at being able to capture my little world in this way. As I got older and more aware of photography as an art form, I began to tell stories with the camera. But it wasnt really until I stepped in to a dakroom that I truly fell in love with photography.
Black and white film photography still holds the most magic for me; both in the moment of taking and the experience of viewing. I studied Cinema and Photography at the University of Leeds. For me, the most photogenic places in the world are in the Highlands of Scotland. My favourite artists are Edward Steichen and the local born painter; John Atkinson Grimshaw.
Although I prefer portrait photography to anything else, I much prefer to work in the great outdoors, so my love for photography and nature often go hand in hand.
